Spin Cycle is a new kind of microbusiness born in Kenya just a few years ago with one simple but powerful idea: use bicycles to wash clothes.

In many Kenyan communities, women carry the burden of cleaning clothes by hand, often with scarce soap and limited access to clean water. It’s exhausting, time-consuming work that leaves little room for education, family, or income-generating opportunities.

Spin Cycle changes that.

With one bike, basic supplies, and access to water, a woman can wash clothes for an entire neighborhood — around 50 families living in extreme poverty. The pedal-powered system makes washing faster, easier, and more efficient, turning what was once an endless chore into a pathway to independence.

Time once spent scrubbing can now be invested in learning, working, or caring for children. And for many, it’s the first step toward building a sustainable future.
